Blackberry Pearl

I recently got a new cell phone. I decided to pickup a Blackberry Pearl 8130 with my Verizon contract. Love it. It has some great features that I find myself regularly using. The best thing about it is the Auto On/Off timer. I can set my phone to go off and come back on at certain times each day. Right now, it come on in the morning at 8:00 am and turns off at 10:30 pm. No more forgetting to turn it off and getting annoying TXT messages late at night. Awesome! Love the calendar it has. I downloaded Google Sync and have it syncing with my Google Calendar. There are probably a ton of other things that I like, but I’ll go into that later. I started this post to point out a problem that I just started having.

Yesterday I started having a major problem. I don’t know if it’s just a manufacturing thing or what, but the ear piece does not work any more. I can dial calls and the other person can hear me, but I can’t hear them at all. It’s really the first time this has happened to me. I’ve had the phone for about a week now and having a problem like this is very discouraging. I’ll be returning it to Verizon today and see if I can get a replacement. I’ll take it home and backup the system, which is another great feature, so that I don’t loose anything. I only hope that it does not kill anything when I do a restore. I believe that it will work fine though.

[UPDATE - 5 Minutes later] Well, after I made the post, I decided to try a reset of the phone. I pulled the battery and waited a few minutes. Put it back in and allowed it to start back up. Tried a phone call and it works perfectly again. Strange, but great! If anyone else has this problem, try this first.
