I’ve been looking at a couple domains for the past few months that I wanted to use to start a business. One domain completely expired and was just about to be released by the registrar when the owner renewed it. The other domain is right now in the process of expiring, and I’d assume that the owner will do the same with it, renewing at the last minute. I knew that I wanted to make an offer on the domains.
I’ve been watching these domains for a few month. The guy has a counter on the domain. When I first checked it, it was at 699. The other, I don’t remember. Anyway, I decided to go ahead and make an offer for the domain. I knew the domains had already expired so I highly doubted that there were any kind of bids being placed on them. Who would have bids on a domain and allow it to expire. If I was the bidder, I’d have been pissed.
I made my offer and heard from the guy this morning. He wanted more that $4,500 dollars for the domains, each. He even had the nerve to say that he already had a “client” for the domain. I say bull. I’ve done my fair share of domain selling and I’ve been honest. I’ve never lied to someone and tried to get them for all they had. I knew there was no action on the domain. The first had already expired and the second was expiring. The counter he had on the domain change by about 10 in the past 4 months. I’m over it. So my search for a domain starts anew.
