I recently got a new cell phone. I decided to pickup a Blackberry Pearl 8130 with my Verizon contract. Love it. It has some great features that I find myself regularly using. The best thing about it is the Auto On/Off timer. I can set my phone to go off and come back on at certain times each day. Right now, it come on in the morning at 8:00 am and turns off at 10:30 pm. No more forgetting to turn it off and getting annoying TXT messages late at night. Awesome! Love the calendar it has. I downloaded Google Sync and have it syncing with my Google Calendar. There are probably a ton of other things that I like, but I’ll go into that later. I started this post to point out a problem that I just started having.

I’ve been looking at a couple domains for the past few months that I wanted to use to start a business. One domain completely expired and was just about to be released by the registrar when the owner renewed it. The other domain is right now in the process of expiring, and I’d assume that the owner will do the same with it, renewing at the last minute. I knew that I wanted to make an offer on the domains.

I continue to slowly change things around for the website. At this point, I’m very happy with the look of the site. Tarski is a great theme to work with, my compliments to Chris and Ben on this wonderful theme. At this point, I’m mainly focusing on Wordpress plugins that will help the function of of the website, on the front end and back end. I’ll list just a few of the plugins I’ve been using and why after the jump.

UPDATED - 4/12/08 Well, this is a first for me. Maybe someone else has seen this before. I have a Google Calendar account that I like to use to keep upcoming events on, mostly personal information. I also have it setup to where I get email and SMS reminders of those upcoming items.

This morning I got a SMS with a subject of “This mail is for you.” I noticed that it was from my Google Calendar account, but had no idea what that subject meant. I left it as is and decided to check it out once I got to work.

I have decided to return to the Tarski Theme by Ben Eastaugh and Chris Sternal-Johnson. I have used this theme before and I really do like it. However, it got to the point that I looked just like every other Tarski user out there. I will be editing the images some this time to make myself stand out a bit more. Color changes, layout and maybe a couple other things.

Back to Basics

I’ve decided to go back to a basic “web log” format, instead of the previous Twitter like Prologue theme from Automattic. For now I’ve jumped back to the Big Blue Theme by Blog oh Blog until I can find a fresh theme to start out on.

Previously, I had all Twitter tweets bouncing back and forth here and on my Twitter page. Worked fine and this site was getting updated a lot.

So, I found this misprinted penny yesterday. The stamp is off by about 50 percent. I can’t see all of the year, but it looks to be in the 90’s. I often hear about misprinted coins and how valuable some can be. I wonder if this one is worth anything. If there is anyone out there that collects coins, and would like to provide some input on this one, please feel free to leave a comment for this post. I’m interested in seeing how this one goes.

I found one on Ebay that is similar to the one that I have: 1991 Misprint Penny [EBAY]

8:00 am workouts really wake you up!

I just had my first real experience with a real live baseball game. My wife was able to get us some free tickets to a Tennessee Smokies game. We were in the skybox between third base and home plate. I had a great time! It was an awesome experience for me. Having my kids and wife with me just added to the time.

It was a very good game too. It was the Smokies verses the Mississippi Braves. Smokies won the game in extra innings, 2-1. Had a few close calls with foul balls coming back across the net. One of them hit a window of the press box. It hit about a foot above a cameraman’s head! You can read a game summary at the Smokies website.

It really got me into a good mood for baseball. As we left the stadium Sunday, I purchased a “game ball” from the Club House. If people see it, I’ll tell them I caught it at a game. ;) We went out last night and I bought my own baseball glove. Just have to break it in now. We also bought a glove for my son and daughter. This will give me more reason to get out and play now.

Whoo!

I Found a Theme!

I found a theme that was close enough to my layout desires, and then tweaked it quite a bit. This is pretty much how I wanted my website to look, but there are still a couple things I am going to add to it.

The original theme, Logistix 3C, is based on a theme from FreeCSSTemplates.org and coded by MandarinMusing.com and HeadsetOptions.org. I then changed several of the images and a bit of the CSS for size of the header. This is almost the theme that I designed.

I want to figure out how to add additional sidebars to this theme. Maybe some sort of options page as well. I may hack some more through this code and see what I can find.

Where To Start

I want to try making my own WordPress theme, but where do I start? If you start with the design, then I’m done. I guess I need step two. The theme I have designed is a three column theme with a “large” footer area. It’s laid out like this:

[ Header ]
[ navigation ]
[ content ] [ sidebar1 ] [ sidebar2 ]
[ Footer ]

Pretty simple. The tricky part of doing this though is that I have no clue about PHP and not a lot of knowledge of CSS and it’s capabilities. Those are really two things that I am lost with. If anyone is out there that knows what they are doing, please leave a comment giving me a starting off point. I would really appreciate it.

Well, kind of. I had my first guitar lesson yesterday evening. So far, so good, I think. :D I learned a few chords and a little bit of a song, “Come as you are” by Nirvana. I’ll keep working at it and see how it goes. My teacher, Joe, is very good on guitar and I can only hope I get to play as well.

A New Look

I’ve been trying to find a new theme for my website. I just tried about 10 new ones a few minutes ago, and I just didn’t really like any of them. I have tinkered with making my own, but I don’t really know where to go after I make a preliminary design. I do like my current theme, gridlock, by hyalineskies.com, but I’m starting to want something more personal. I like more of a white, open theme with one of those “fat” footers. I also like to have a couple sidebars. I would like to have all of them, the two sidebars and the footer to be customizable with widgets. Is there anyone out there, that I can provide a design for that can create a wordpress theme for me? I’m more than willing to provide a permanent link back to your website. If it’s something you would like to do, please contact me on my contact page, or leave a comment here in this post.

Thanks!

Spam Comments

I don’t really have a lot of posts here on my website, but several of my older posts are getting several spam posts. I’ve normally been letting the Akismet plug-in remove the spam for me. I’ve had it installed for a few months now, and my captured spam is at 668. I know it’s not a lot, compared to other sites, but it’s spam into posts that are months old. I was reading TechCrunch the other day and they were talking about how they average about 15,000 spam posts, per day. They had the same problem I did, spam comments in old posts.

I’m counting the days. From March 18th, through the 23, my wife and I will be in Las Vegas! This will be my second time going there. The first time was two years ago for work. I am a member of the World Organization of Webmasters and there was a conference there about Web Services and Content Management Services. I actually became a member in 2003 on a business trip to New York for an Internet World conference that was there.

This time, my wife is going for a Summit Conference for her job. I’m just tagging along. It’s gonna be fun! My only problem is going to be figuring out what to do during the day there. She’s going to be in classes for about 6-7 hours so I’m going to be all alone during that time. I may walk around some and revisit some of the sites and casinos, but no gambling for me. That’s just one thing that I have no desire to do. I also have a Slingbox so I’ll be able to watch my home recordings in the hotel.

After the conference is over for the day, we will be hitting up the attractions! There are a few shows that I would like to see. BlueMan Group is one that I went to last time. They were at the Luxor last time, and they have moved to The Venetian since then. I’d also like to see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows. There are like 4 or 5 different ones in Vegas.

If there is anything you would recommend, please leave a comment, before the 18th of March, and let me know!

The Roomba Problem

I have a problem with my Roomba. No, he (Steve) didn’t stop working. He is still rolling along the floors. My problem is… I watch him. The whole family does! We purchased Steve from Woot as it was a great deal and we could do other things while Steve did the vacuuming. It was a great idea! We pick up the bulky stuff like the toys and shoes, and put him to work. Then we all sit on the couch, or the bed, or the washer and dryer and watch him work! It’s so funny. Do you have a Roomba and do the same as we do? Leave a comment and let me know!

In the Circus

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus was in Knoxville, TN this weekend. The wife and kids and I all went. We were down on the floor, second row, and it was great! We arrived early to take advantage of the pre-show they had. Saw some clowns, acrobats, and the kids put on a costume. We watched one of the shows they had and I got pulled into it! It was fun. It was me and three other guys. They had us sit on some chairs and then lay back. They then pulled the chairs out and we stayed up! They kinda took their time when they got my chair. Clowns always have to make fun of someone. ;)

Doesn’t anyone just make a cell phone that is just that, a phone? My 2 yr contract is coming up soon with Verizon Wireless and I’ve been looking online, and in store, for a new phone. Just about every phone is the same now. Phone, Camera, Music Player, Bluetooth, Notes, Calender, Games, Display Themes, Clocks, Internet Access, ALL IN ONE!

GAHHHH! I just want to make phone calls. Yes, the Bluetooth is nice. I think I would use that. But everything else is useless for me.

Camera - Got one: Sony Cybershot DCS-T50/B
Music Player - Got one: Microsoft Zune
Notes - I’ll carry a post-it note if I have too. Or just call my wife!
Calender - No thank you. Got one on my wall
Games - Don’t want ‘em
Display Themes - Don’t need ‘em
Clocks - Got a watch on my arm
Internet Access - Yea right

I just want a phone that will allow me to make calls from me, to another person. Maybe a little SMS, very little. I don’t need a QWERTY keyboard. I want one with maybe 15 buttons. 1-0, #, *, Send, End, Bluetooth button, On/Off. That’s it.

I’ve seen some phones that are coming that are just phones. That’s what I want. Short, simple, sweet.

I just did a little searching and it seems the phone I’m wanting is coming from Motorola. It’s the MOTOFONE and it’s just a phone! *gasp* Wow. What a concept. I just hope that Verizon gets this phone. SOON!

New Look

I’ve just updated the site with a new look. This time, I’m running a theme called GridLock which is created by Eston Bond over at Hyaline Skies. This is a very nice looking theme using more of a Magazine-style blogging layout, which I really like. Eston was even nice enough to include a PSD of the logo image to customize as needed. I change the color and font and also threw in my own logo. I think it looks rather nice now. I’ve also done a little customize of the header navigation and sidebar. Adding more links for access to my older posts. I think it’s looking great so far.

I’m going to try to start updating the site more often. Do some reviews of some of the newer gadgets that I have around the house. Try to write up a few articles or something. Please keep an eye out for some upcoming material from this site.

Double Updates

This site has had a double update to it.
#1: WordPress 2.1 has been released. Some new features have been added and other security updates as well.
#2: The Tarski theme has also been updated. This one also has some new features as well and is updated to work with WP 2.1

Still working on it

I’m still trying to come up with a custom WordPress theme for my website. I’ve got a design, but I’ve I’ve not incorporated it into a theme. I’ve actually been trying to cheat by finding a theme that would do what I want, but there is nothing that I can find. Over the past week, I’ve been changing themes around on the site. There are several that I like, but I’d like to have a custom thing going.

I want to be able to have an Options Page and also be able to use Widgets. Two things that my current theme uses wonderfully.

Child’s Play 2006

It’s that time of year again. Child’s Play 2006 had begun. There are now 28 different children’s hospitals to donate to. There are still a few that have not been completely added, but they should be done soon. I will try and donate again this year to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. I will probably also put up a few flyers around town and maybe one at work as well.

If you happen to stumble upon this website, please try to make a donation to one of the many hospitals on this year’s list.

So Far

It’s been over two weeks now. I’ve lost about 5 pounds. I’ve not been able to ride my bike as much as I would like. I’m not going to give up. I will continue to try. The local community college has a weight room. Seems I can go there and use it while it is open. Just might do that.

And Thus… It Begins

Today I have started my quest to lose about 100 pounds of weight. I’m going the Slim-Fast route at the moment and hopefully it will work for me. About a week or so ago, I decided that I wanted and needed to lose weight. Not health problems. Just want to be healthy for my children and wife, so I can be around for a long time.

I currently weigh 266 pounds. According to HealthCentral.com’s Ideal Body Weight Calculator, my ideal weight is around 176 - 193 pounds. Now, I could shoot for the 193 mark and be done with it. What kind of goal would that be? In my mind, a lazy one. I’m going to shoot more for the 176 side of that scale.

I am also riding my bike to work every other day. Living in East Tennessee, there are lots of hills. It’s tough, but I’m trying my best. I get almost to the office, but it’s at the top of a big hill and I can’t get up it, yet. The ride back home is actually easy because it’s all downhill pretty much. We are going to be moving the office in a few weeks and it’s going to be reversed. Office = downhill, home = uphill. I will probably also do some exercises at home in the morning to help boost myself. Also will probably start walking at home and work more often.

I’m not a good guy to go to for long term goals, so I might need some encouragement during this time. If there are any other tips that you think will help, please leave a comment.

I have always had an interest in RC Planes and Helicopters but this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. This guy has developed a way to use a ultra-light RC plane, VR goggels and a camera to give a pilot’s view from a RC plane. If he looks right, the camera looks to the right. If he looks left, the camera goes left. He can even look up and down! How COOL is that?! I could also see this working for any type of RC vehicle. The thing I like about this video is that he has also put little gauges in the plane. That was a nice little detail.

You can watch the video here on the French Google Video web site..

I have a Tickle Me Elmo

Well, two actually. One for my kids and the other is probably going to go on eBay. I’ve been watching eBay for a few days now and been noticing them going for about $80 - $100 dollars. I’ve seen it go up to $189.50 but that was only one. I would love to sell mine for that much. We’ll see how it goes.

I Remember…

I was in my living room. Just got home from working my night shift job. My mom stopped by that day. I can’t remember why. I turned on the news and saw a shock. One of the two World Trade Centers was smoking. I turned from my computer to watch. Then a second plane hit. I think I yelled at the TV. I then began flipping through the news channels to get more information. Time passed. It seemed like forever.

Then what I thought would not happen, did. The first tower fell. I started yelling again. I just could not believe it. I guessed that the other would fall as well. Shortly after, it did. I truly did not want to believe it.

I Remember, but I still wish it didn’t happen.

I just saw a post on Slashdot that the guys over at Penny Arcade are going to have a video game made: Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness

Now that is a Tycho titled game if I have ever seen one before. It just slips off the tounge like… molasses. I have been a big fan of Penny Arcade for a few years. I even participated in Child’s Play 2005. The game will be sold and delievered digitally and is going to have monthly updates once it is released, however there is no date set yet. It will run on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux with a possible appearence on a console. Hothead Games will be handling the development of the game.

I truly cannot wait!

Never mind! I found one. Wow. The wonders of the WordPress Codex. It looks AND works great!

If anyone is out there, I’m looking for a plugin for WordPress. I have no idea what it would be called, or if it exists now. What I would like is a single plugin, not 4 or 5, that puts those little icons for Digg, Blogger, del.icio.us, and others like them at the bottom of each post. Someone could then click the images to then add to del.icio.us, submit to digg.com, etc. If you are using something like this now, please let me know as I would like to get it myself!

I’ll make an image of what I mean and where it should go soon so you can see.

Planetary Demotion

Well, it’s final. Pluto has been demoted to a dwarf planet. It’s kind of sad really. Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh.

My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas

Working on New Theme

I’m in the process in making my own custom WordPress theme. I’ve done it once before, but I am going to try a few new things that I like with my existing Tarski theme. I’ll probably be hitting up Ben and Chris for help on some of the stuff.

Windows Live Writer

Microsoft has release a new Live program. Windows Live Writer. It is a desktop program that allows you to post to your Windows Live Spaces, or other blog web site. I am using WLW right now to make this post. It seems pretty good so far. I may use it for a month and see if it works for me. You can go to the Live Writer Space and download it for yourself.

*Edit : At the current time, Windows Live Writer does not support adding tags to posts. Maybe there will be a plugin later to add that function.

Well, I just dropped my daughter off for her FIRST day of school. Man, I’m getting old… ;)

I’m trying to find ways to become more “portable” with my Tablet PC. I’ve been looking at a few different products to see what is out there that can help. If you have, or have any use with these products please post a comment and let me know if they work for you.

Mogo Mouse: I have been looking at this mouse for a while now. If you have a laptop, you know that most of the time, the trackpad or trackball thingy just does not cut it. And neither do those tiny mouses (mice?). Believe me, I have TWO of them. My hand gets tired quickly sometimes. The advantage of the Mogo Mouse is that it is a full size mouse, but thin enough to fit in the PC card slot of your laptop for storage, and charging the battery. It runs with Bluetooth so there are no wires either.

ITCase: For storage and on the go use of the Tablet Pc, this looks to be a very nice case that I found on GottaBeMobile.com in one of the banner ads (A good reason not to use an ad blocker on websites). It seems to be a great case with several different usage scenarios that seem PERFECT for a Tablet PC case. Being able to type OR ink while standing would be a great plus when attending those “Standing room only” IT conferences! It also has a very good looking accessory pouch that would be great for some additional storage, for papers or a battery, which I am going to touch on below.

Now, here comes the tricky part: Battery Life! I have not run a stress test on my Tablet PC yet but it gets a few hours of battery life. I’ve been looking at three different companys to get an external battery from. I’m looking to get into the 6-10 extra hours range. So, here are my options.

BatteryGeek: Based on their site, what I would need there is the 14-18-118 External Battery which looks to be a great battery at a GREAT price of $179.99. However, they also have a Portable Power Station, for 299.00, that I would prefer, but I am not sure if it would work or not. I may email them and verify. There is only one issue that keeps me from picking them right now. It seems they have several instances of bad customer service. Now, this could be a misunderstanding, a grudge, or just a user out to give the company a bad wrap. I don’t know. I’d really like to see what others thinks of them and see what their take on the company is.

Electrovaya: The battery that I am looking at here is either the PowerPad 120 or PowerPad 160. This one would run me $319.00 to $479.00 but would get me from 12 to 16 hours of extra battery time respectively. The issue with this company is there are SEVERAL people that have had the battery die on the after 3 - 6 months and also poor runtime. Again, has anyone out there used it?

Valance: The final one that I am looking at is the N-Charge (VNS130) system by Valance Technology. This one gets about 10 hours of battery time. This one runs at $299.00 for the battery. Again, this one has several people having the battery die. I would like to know if this is also normal for this brand.

On the ZDNet reviews website, The N-Charge and PowerPad get a 4.0 and 4.1 rating from customer reviews, but a 7.6 and 8.0 from ZDNet. What to do…

Again, if anyone out there has used any of these products, I would like to know how they work, or do not work, for you. Good or bad, I would like to know. And if any of the vendors get to this post, if you do product reviews, feel free to send me on of the above products so that I can try before I buy.

WOW! DeviantArt.com just released the version 5 upgrade and I must say that it looks AWESOME! It’s a little slow at the moment, but head on over and check it out, now!

Happy belated Birthday to the World Wide Web! Fifteen years ago, the World Wide Web was born!

Wiki:
On August 6, 1991, [Tim Berners-Lee] posted a short summary of the World Wide Web project on the alt.hypertext newsgroup. This date also marked the debut of the Web as a publicly available service on the Internet. The crucial underlying concept of hypertext originated with older projects from the 1960s, such as Ted Nelson’s Project Xanaduand Douglas Engelbart’s oN-Line System (NLS).

WordPress

Just upgraded to the 2.0.4 version of WordPress. All seems well so far. If you are running WordPress, please be sure to upgrade as well. There are several security and bug fixes in this release

Sorry. I really need to start posting more items here. There are several things that are going on that I really want to get out there. Movie Reviews, real life happenings, job stuff, cool news, geeky stuff. I really want to post it. I do. Really!

Had a good day yesterday. Got a fishing rod and some hooks and stuff. A chair to sit in while fishing, which is cool, cause it has a cooler attached to it. Now I just need to go fishing! hehe. I don’t really feel like I’m getting older. Just going through life.

…to me!

Remind me…

Remind me to tell you about vacation. It was fun and I have PICTURES!

Well, mostly. I think I’m really the only one who visits this site. Bleh. Who cares. I’m not doing this for you. I’m doing it for me.

Well, I have several things to talk about and I’m trying to decide if I want to make one large post about it, or should I break it up into several posts… I’ll just start typing and if I think of something later, I’ll add it. Deal?

Well, shortly after my last post, I received my Toshiba M400 Tablet PC. I must say that I absolutely love it! I type, I ink, I draw, I play games. It is the higher end spec of the series and for what it does and allows me to do, it was well worth it.

My sister won a new car. Well, not a new car, but it’s new to her. Seems at the high school she attends, they have a drawing once a year for all perfect attendance students for a car. There were like 40 something people in the pot. My sister was the last. The funny thing is, she’s 16, doesn’t have a permit or license, or have a job. Oh well, congrats!

Took a week off of work. All the employees did. With what we have delt with for the past month, we all deserved it. I rested as much as I could. By the time Thursday rolled around, I was bored out of my mind! Oh well, back to work!

Vacation is coming up soon. In June, the family and I will be heading out to Florida for a few days. There are 9 of us going. I bought us all plane tickets. The cost was about 261$ per person by the time I was able to order them. If I had gotten the money earlier, I could have saved 50$ or more per person. What can you do?

Been playing City of Villains during my week off. I have a level 28 Robotics/Force Field Mastermind. It’s sad. I have a Fire/Fire Tanker on City of Heroes that is also level 28. It seems I have neglected him. Maybe I’ll get back to CoH soon, but I’m having too much fun being a bad guy!

Kinda playing with Skype now. I downloaded it today. On one of the tech sites that I visit, I saw that they are now allowing free calls to landlines and mobile lines in the US and Canada until the end of the year. That’s pretty nice. But I really don’t know that many people. :D Maybe I can find a use for it sometime.

Well, that’s all for now. I’m going try and keep this “up-to-date” as much as I can. Laterz!

It’s Coming!

Just 2 minutes ago, I got an email from Toshiba that my M400 JUST SHIPPED!!!! Woohoo! I didn’t expect it to ship until Monday, but shipping Friday is even better! Oh I’m getting happy. This news just makes my horrible day a lot better. Wheeeee!!!!!!11onetwo

The Tablet Cometh

I forgot to mention that I ordered my Toshiba Portege M400 Tablet PC last Friday. It has a ship date of the 17th so I’m getting more and more excited everyday. I took advantage of the “Toshiba Card” to get 12 months of 0% APR. I also got Free 2 day shipping! Very nice.

The funny thing is that I’m not the only one looking forward to it. My daughter is also wanting to play with it. I told her it was a special computer where you could write on the screen. She likes that idea. I pointed out to her that she couldn’t just use anything to write on it. Hopefully she doesn’t grab the Sharpie. ;)

I forgot about needing something to protect it and carry it around with so I went back to Toshiba and got their 3-in-1 Portfolio case. It looks like a really nice case as it can be used for storage, in laptop mode and tablet mode. Should never have to take it off. I’ve thought about doing a review of the system and case once I get it and play with it for a week.

I really ment to post about the second half of The Ten Commandments yesterday, but… just didn’t. Anyway, no more nuclear explosions in the second half. A WHOLE lot more blood, but no bombs. Several more discrepancies in the story, but I guess someone had to add more content for the movie. Overall, it was pretty good.

Last night, the wife and I watched The Ten Commandments on ABC. It’s a 2 part series, which concludes tonight. It was a rather good first part that stuck pretty well to the bible’s interpretation… kinda. There are a few problems that I had with it, which I will talk about here.

  1. Apparently, the Egyptians AND Hebrews were British. Yes. It’s true. It just struck me a funny that the creators (Creator?) would make them ALL British.
  2. Moses, Aaron and the Pharoh were white. Yes. Completly WHITE. The real kicker was the fact that Moses was white in the whole movie. I mean seriously, all that time in the desert after leaving the city and he never got a tan?
  3. God parted the Red Sea with a nuclear explosion. Yes, it was proven! I saw it on TV so it must be true! I expected the scene with the parting of the Red Sea to have a visuals to go with it. They were there, fish swimming around, the ground cracking open, lava. Wait. Lava? Well, ok. more fish, sharks, a VOLCANO! Ehhh, I don’t know about that, but ok. Couple more fish, big waves. BOOM! Nuclear Explosion with mushroom cloud! Oh come on. Why did they have to include that. Really now. That was just NOT needed at all. ABC, if you are reading this, which I doubt, why the bomb?

Anyway, it concludes tonight so we’ll see how many more bombs God uses to get his point across.

In my search of a Tablet PC, I’ve been visiting one site in particular. That is James Kendrick’s blog, jkOnTheRun. Absolutly great site. Well, I sent him an email this morning about his thoughts on getting either the Portege M400 or the Tecra M4. I really didn’t expect to get an email from him today, but I got a reply back a few minutes ago! He says that he would go for the Portege M400 as it is a powerhouse and more than capable of running Vista when it is released. Little on the bigger side than her prefers, but that’s more of a personal thing. With Vista, that’s not something I mentioned in the email, but I am looking for a Tablet that is “Vista Capable.”
Thanks for your imput James!

He has also released jkOnTheRun Audio Edition #14 where he reviews the TabletKiosk eo v7110 UMPC. I’m about 20 Seconds away from it being completly downloaded and will be watching it myself. Enjoy!

My Tablet PC

The past few days I’ve been surfing around on some good Tablet PC related websites. The more I do this, the more and more cool little programs that I want to have on it. There are so many, it’s hard to keep track of them all!

One of the websites that I’ve been looking at has a nice list of programs, mainly utilities. He also has a second list of good programs that he sugested for a Toshiba m200. Now, I will be getting the Tecra M4, but they should work great for me too. A LOT on that second list I will probably get some very good use.

If you are looking to get a TabletPC, I would like to point you to the following web sites as a good starting point:
TabletPCBuzz.com - http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/
JK On The Run - http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkontherun/

Strange? Yes, but VERY good. Not, I’ve not been eating Strange Fruit, I’ve been WATCHING it! The Family and I went to Dollywood this past Saturday for a little away time. It was their first official day of being open, and surprisingly, it was not that crowded. Dollywood currently has their Festival of Nations going on which runs from April 1 - May 7. There are several groups and food from around the globe available for you to take part in.

We were there from about 10 am to right at 8 pm, but we didn’t really watch many of the shows. What we did watch was Stix on Steel, a steel drum band from Trinidad and the Australian group, Strange Fruit with the show “Swoon.” Both were great shows, but Swoon was better in my opinion.

Swoon consists of a group of four people that climb to the top of 15 foot flexible polls. Thenythen strap themselves in and begin to sway while acting out various routines. This is all to a mix of music that includes Rock, Classical and Electronic tracks. It is VERY good and you just have to see it yourself. Unfortunately, I did not bring a camera to take any pictures, but we have a season pass to Dollywood so I will see if I can borrow my sisters digital camera as it can take about 50 minutes worth of video. ;) Being a 20 minute show, it will be more than enough!

I just check my Windows Live account and noticed that I have several Invites available.

If you would like one, please post a comment here and I will send you one out.

Laptop

In my previous post about a laptop, I listed the Gateway Convertable and the Alienware m7700. Which one am I going to get? Neither! That’s right. I chatted with a few friends and I was trying to push the Alienware, but I was gradually talked out of it. Why? How? Well…

They all talked about how much of overkill it was. For they type of gaming I do, it really was not a sound investment. True. Very True. So I then began to think seriosuly about a tablet PC. Well, I got on IRC with a few of my friends and one of them just happened to be buying his own. Buy also being an avid gamer, he found the perfect one. The Toshiba Tecra M4.

No… it’s not a gaming beast like the Alienware machine, but it can handle it’s own. Instead of having an intergrated video card like most other Tablet Pc’s, this one makes use of a nVIDIA® GeForce Go card. The one I will be getting has the NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6600 TE with 128MB DDR SDRAM. Wheee! Completly configured, it will cost me a little over $2,800. Not really that bad at all. I hope to have it ordered the first week of April, if all goes well.

Another big + about a tablet. Microsoft has two FREE products for them. An Education pack and Experience pack. You can see the demos of the two packs at Microsoft’s Tablet PC website and also download them if you want them. The demos tell you what each pack has. I plan on getting both.
